About me and this blog

26 February 2008

By day - I am the director of digital strategy and development for the Guardian Media Group. And, one way or another, I’ve been involved with digital media since 1993, way back when I was a (not very good) media journalist writing about how interactive TV was going to change the world (choose your own ending for Eastenders? fantastic).

My role means I’m involved one way or another with the digital development of all our group companies. I used to be the director of digital publishing at Guardian News and Media - which meant I was responsible for the the site formerly known as Guardian Unlimited - but now Guardian.co.uk .

Because I have endless time to spare, I am also chair of a trade body, the Association of Online Publishers . This does a great job of bringing those in the digital content business together for events, research and networking to help us build better digital businesses.

I’ve been blogging one way or another for about five or six years now. Most recently here

Although, to be honest, after having twins a year ago, things have been just a little too frantic for me to have any bold insights about anything really - let along find the time to share them.

Anyway, the boys have just had their first birthday, so it seems like a good time to start again.

In the past, I’ve gone through blogging about music, blogging about anything that takes my fancy, and blogging about work. I’m not sure where this latest blog incarnation is going to take me…probably a mix of all three.

Well - either that, or I’m going to grind to an embarrassing halt again after a couple of weeks. We shall see.
